Obituary

Randy Coleman Goedeke, 76, of Carrollton, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2023, at home.

Randy was born on February 21, 1947, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Carl and Madeline Goedeke.  He was united in marriage on November 9, 1968, to his wife, Jan Elliott, of 55 years; she survives of the home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dan Goedeke, and nephew Jim Goedeke.

He is survived by his two sons: Chad Goedeke, and Aaron (Amy) Goedeke, daughter, Stephanie (Dave) Schwirtz, grandchildren Shelby (Devan) Hughes, Sheldon Goedeke, Jaden Goedeke, Liberty Goedeke, Kierstin Schwirtz, Ethan Schwirtz, Peyton Schwirtz, and great granddaughter Violet Hughes, brother Mike (Teresa) Goedeke, sister, Leslie Calhoun, as well as nieces and nephews.

Randy graduated from Carrollton High School in 1965 and then attended trade school to become a heavy machinery mechanic.  He was drafted into the Army on July 5, 1966, and was honorably discharged June 21, 1968, after serving in the Vietnam War.  While serving his country he earned the following medals: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Sharpshooter Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal.  After his service to his country, he was hired by Green Quarries where he worked for over 30 years before retiring.  Randy and Jan also owned and operated Mary Ann's Flower Shop in Carrollton for over 20 years.  Randy enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with loved ones.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Pence-Lovell-England VFW Post 1773 or Carroll County Animal Shelter.  They may be mailed or dropped off at the business office for Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street, P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation with funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Thurman Funeral Home in Norborne, with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m., with services to follow at 2:00 p.m.  Burial will be in Big Creek Cemetery near Bosworth.
