Richard Allen Stigall, 87, of Richmond, died Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at Oak Ridge Assisted Living in Richmond.
Richard was born on October 18, 1935, in Henrietta, the son of Allen Duffett and Viola "Thelma" (Rinkenbaugh) Stigall. He was united in marriage to Karen Sue Edgar of Richmond on December 4, 1988; she survives of the home.
Additional survivors include: son, Richard Allen (Krista) Stigall, II, of Overland Park, KS; three daughters: Rita Ann Williams and Nita Sue (Stuart) Dietz, both of Independence, and Stacey Diane (Douglas) King of Lee's Summit; seven grandchildren: Mandy (Robert) Baldwin, Robin Reary, Melissa (Jacob) Bledsoe, Nolan Williams, Ellie Stigall, EmmaRae (Zachary) Carroll, and Grace King; 10 great-grandchildren: Lilie Reary, Maura Bell, Lucas Bledsoe, Logan Bledsoe, Lena Bledsoe, Daisy Reary, Parker Baldwin, Alex Baldwin, Abby Baldwin, and one-on-the-way, Griffin Isaac Carroll; and brother, Gary (Ellen) Stigall of Yuma, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his great-granddaughter, Aurora Grace Carroll, his brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Mary Stigall.
Richard was reared and educated in Henrietta and graduated from the Henrietta High School in 1953. His early working years included working for the Henrietta Drive-In, Farris Theatre, Santa Fe Railroad, and Jackson Hardware. In 1968, he started his career with Ray-Carroll Coop and worked there as an electrician until he retired in 2000. Richard enjoyed farming throughout his life. After he retired, he continued serving his community by helping others. He was a lifetime member of the Henrietta Methodist Church. Richard enjoyed trains, planes, John Deere tractors, and traveling. He also enjoyed Royals baseball and taking pictures on trips. He was a member of the Richmond School Board and served on numerous Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation boards throughout his lifetime. Richard's faith was very important to him. He attended Thursday morning Bible Study group and helped with Send the Light Bible Team. He helped build a church camp and preached at funerals over the years.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either Send the Light Bible Team or the Farris Theatre. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Monday, February 27, 2023, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 26, 2023, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Richmond Memory Gardens.
