Bob Ed was raised and educated in the area of his birth, first attending Central School in Rockingham before graduating from Stet High School with the Class of 1963. After high school, he pursued college until he was drafted to serve in Vietnam. With great pride, he answered the call to duty, serving in the United States Infantry during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, Bob Ed embraced his lifelong passion for farming, working the land in the place he loved most. Farming wasn't just his profession—it was his way of life, one he cherished deeply.  He was a member of the Rockingham Church of the Brethren.
