ROBERT W. "BOB" LETZIG

Robert W. "Bob" Letzig, 88, of Richmond, MO, died on Thursday, August 19, 2010, at the North Kansas City Hospital, North Kansas City, MO.
Bob was born on January 9, 1922 in Hardin, MO to Robert H. and Violet (Mayes) Letzig. He married Elizabeth Ellen "Betty" Wittenberger of Carlton, NE on August 9, 1946; she preceded him in death on February 27, 2010.
Survivors include, one son and daughter-in-law, John Letzig and his wife, Beth of Richmond; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Roberta Kris Jenkins and her husband, Bob of Rich Hill, MO and Lori E. Callow and her husband, Alan of Weston, MO; eight grandchildren, Trevor Jenkins, Sarah Jenkins, Melissa Jenkins, Michael Letzig and his wife Holly, Lindsey Letzig, Darren Letzig, Cortney McIntyre-Trent and her husband, Daniel and Wade Callow; two great grandchildren, Nolan McIntyre-Trent and Paige Baker; two sisters, Betty Jean Letzig of Asheville, NC and Vera Mae "Suz" Letzig of Orlando, FL.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Louise Hoover.
Bob was a lifelong farmer and a certified seed grower. He lived in Richmond most of his life. He attended the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO. He was a member of the Richmond United Methodist Church where he was currently serving on the Board of Trustees and had been a Sunday school teacher. He was past president of the Missouri Farm Bureau, former member of the Production Credit Association Advisory Board, and a former board member of the Ray County School Board. He was currently serving as treasurer of the Crooked River Drainage District. He was past president of the Shirkey Golf Club and a former 4-H leader. He was a U.S. Army 2nd Lieutenant who served in Europe during World War II and received the Purple Heart Award.
The family suggests memorial contributions in lieu of flowers be made to the Richmond United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, August 23, 2010 at the United Methodist Church, Richmond, MO, military services will be provided by the Ray County Veterans. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 22, 2010, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, Richmond, MO. Private family inurnment will be at a later date in the Richmond Memory Gardens, Richmond, MO. Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, MO is in charge of the arrangements.
