ROBERT E. COOK
Robert E. Cook, 83, of Lee's Summit, MO died at 2:45 a.m. on Friday, August 26, 2011 at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.
Robert was born on March 15, 1928 in Carthage, MO to Alby and Josephine Ida (Reynolds) Cook. He married Stephannie L. Carr of Carthage in 1956; she preceded him in death in 1995.
Survivors include two sons and two daughters-in-law, Larry Cook and his wife, Martha of Norborne, MO and John Luna and his wife, Susan Rutherford of Corvallis, OR; 5 grandchildren;6 great-grandchildren; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Harold Cook and his wife, Wanda of Springfield, MO and Henry Cook of the Phillipinees; and four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Shirley Hoover and her husband, Wayne of Lathrop, MO, Violet Bishop and her husband, Buzz of Joplin, MO, Lottie Rowell of Joplin, MO and Edna Powle of Jophin, MO.
In addition to his parents and wife, Robert was preceded in death by one brother, Fred Cook; and one sister, Mary Shore.
Robert worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for the Operating Engineers Union Local #101. He had lived in the Lee's Summit area most of his life. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Koren Conflict. He enjoyed square dancing, fishing, quail hunting, water skiing and helping people.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Shirkey Foundation.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Chapel. As to Robert's wishes, his body has been donated to science. Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond is in charge of the arrangements.
