ROBERT E. "BOBBY" STONNER

Robert E. "Bobby" Stonner, 84, of Camden, MO died at 4:25 a.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at the Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond, MO.
Robert was born on March 18, 1927 in Lafayette County, MO to Mark F. and Mary (Sharp) Stonner. He married Florence O. Taylor of Orrick, MO on September 28, 1949; she preceded him in death on January 13, 2011.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Roberta Stonner of Richmond; one daughter, Alice Faye Monroe of Liberty, MO; 5 grandchildren and their spouses, Valerie and Torrey Meade, Mark and Terri Stonner, Lynn and David O'Brien, Monica Hall, Kendal and Jacki Hall, 9 great-grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Leona and Hoey Love of Richmond and Betty and Bob Gray of Kansas City, MO.
In addition to his parents and wife, Robert was preceded in death by one son, Fred Aaron Stonner; one grandson, Robert Gene Stonner; and one brother, F.D. Stonner.
Robert was a farmer most of his life before retiring in 2003. He was a member of the Camden United Methodist Church where he was a Past Sunday School Superintendent and an Administrative President. He had lived most of his life in the Camden area. He was a United States Navy Seabee Veteran of WWII. He was a member of the Ray Lodge #223 A.F. & A. M. He was a member of the Ararat Shrine and the Richmond Shrine Club. He was a member of the Happy Notes Square Dance Club for many years. He helped rear 17 Foster Children. He was a member of the Ray-Lafayette Levee District and a member of the Lafayette County Road District. He was a member of the Ray County Soil Conservation Commission. Bob was famous for having chili, vegetable soup and oyster stew for his family and friends at his farm shed every Christmas Eve for the past 35 plus years.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Camden United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 13, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at the Camden United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2011 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond with a Masonic service at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Richmond Memory Gardens with military honors conducted by the Ray County Veterans in Richmond. Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond is in charge of the arrangements.
