Obituary

Rogena May Malloy, 80, of Richmond, died Saturday, March 28, 2020, at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.

Rogena was born on November 10, 1939, in Richmond, the daughter of Floyd and Hazel (Williams) Minnick.  She was united in marriage to Jimmy Malloy of Richmond; he preceded her in death.

Survivors include: two sons, David Simpson and Brian (Vicky) Simpson, both of Richmond; daughter, Christy Simpson of Richmond; two grandchildren, Brandon and Desiree Simpson; great-granddaughter, Briella Simson; and sister, Sharon Cox

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, Floyd Minnick and two in infancy, and stepsister Betty Minnick.

Rogena was reared and educated in Richmond and graduated from the Richmond High School.  In addition to being a housewife and homemaker, she held other various jobs outside of the home, including: being the last survivor who worked at what is now the Ray County Museum, when it was a Nursing Home, she worked at the hospital, sold Avon and tuber ware, and worked for Planned Parenthood.  Rogena was of the Christian faith and she enjoyed crocheting and knitting.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Rogena May Malloy Memorial Fund.  They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.
