RUSSELL ELWAYNE PHILLIPS

Russell Elwayne Phillips, 79, of Lexington, MO and a former Ray County resident died Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at his home.

Elwayne was born on June 21, 1936 in Richmond, MO to Russell Robert and Iola Elizabeth (Norris) Phillips.

Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Russell Phillips of Burlington, KS, Ric and Pam Phillips of Frisco, TX and Randy and Louise Phillips of Lawrence, KS; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Connie and Greg Mallott of Independence, MO and Marsha and Mel Flores of Rosehill, KS; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Jan Wrisinger of Lexington and Linda Kay and Gary Downs of Excelsior Springs, MO; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and his loving companion, Lenora Kraft of Richmond, MO.

In addition to his parents, Elwayne was preceded in death by one brother, Donald F. Phillips; and one sister, Shirley Danner.

Elwayne was a 1955 graduate from Richmond High School. He was a foreman at Lake City Arsenal for over 20 years. He loved to trap shoot, and was a former Missouri State Trap Shooting Champion. He was an avid gardener. He loved bowling, playing horseshoes, hunting and fishing. Elwayne was a member of the NRA. He had lived in Ray County most of his life. He was of the Christian faith.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to John Knox Hospice.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be Sunday, June 28, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Inurnment will be at a later date.
