RUTH GARNER HAYES

Ruth Garner Hayes, 92, of Richmond, MO, died at 1:00 a. m. on Monday, December 24, 2012 at the North Care Hospice House in North Kansas City, MO.
Ruth was born on October 3, 1920 in Knoxville, MO to Ira Lee and Susan (Smith) Rowan. She married Esta Ray Hayes of Braymer, MO on July 31, 1943. He preceded her in death on September 16, 1990.
Survivors include; one son and daughter-in-law, John and Trish Hayes of Richmond, MO, one granddaughter, Laurie Ann Hayes, two great-grandchildren, Alyssa Martinez and her husband, Ryan, Jesse O'Dell and one great-great-granddaughter, Brayleigh Martinez, along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Ruth was preceded in death by one brother, Ira Lee Rowan, Jr. two sisters, Lily Slade and Katherine Binggeli.
Ruth was a retired school teacher. She taught in several rural schools in Ray County for 21 years, before retiring in 1961. She was a Methodist. She lived in the Richmond area most of her life.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 28, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 28, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral home in Richmond. Burial will be in the Richmond Memory Gardens Cemetery.
