SANDRA KAY SANDERS

Sandra Kay Sanders, 62, of Richmond, MO, died on Monday, May 10, 2010, at her home.
Sandra was born August 10, 1947, in Excelsior Springs, MO to James Wesley and Mary Kathleen (Loyd) Gaulden. She married Louis John "L.J." Sanders of Richmond on August 24, 1968; he preceded her in death on November 10, 2007.
Survivors include her mother, Mary Kathleen Gaulden of Richmond; one son and daughter-in-law, John and Kristy Sanders of Kansas City, MO; one grandson, Jasyn Sanders; her father-in-law, Louis Sanders, Jr. of Richmond, her aunt and uncle, Emil and Norma Loyd; and her best friend, Jan Haynes.
In addition to her father she was preceded in death by one grandson, Justyn Sanders.
Sandra was a 1965 graduate of Richmond High School. She attended beauty school in Kansas City, MO and had worked at the Elms Hotel Salon in Excelsior Springs and the Pink Poodle Salon in Richmond. She had also worked at Avsco Plastics, Ferguson Plastics and Prices Candy before retiring from American Wilcon Plastics. She attended the Fleming Baptist Church. She lived in Richmond most of her life.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Ray County Animal Shelter.

Funeral services will be Saturday, May 15, at 1:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, MO. Visitation will be Friday, May 14, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, MO. Burial will be at Richmond Memory Gardens, Richmond, MO. Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, MO is in charge of the arrangements.
