SHIRLEY GENE CLAYPOLE

Shirley Gene Claypole, 85, of Orrick, MO, died on Thursday, February 1, 2018, at the Shirkey Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Richmond, MO.

Shirley was born June 15, 1932 in Ray County, MO to Mack William and Ora Ellen (Brinkley) Claypole. He married Clara Anna Caswell of Independence, MO on March 21, 1952; they were married for 58 years.  She preceded him in death on June 10, 2010.

Survivors include; two sons Randy Claypole of Orrick and William Alan Claypole of Orrick; one sister, Barbara Murry of Orrick; seven   grandchildren, Travis (Tiffany) Claypole, Danielle Werle, DeAnna (Jamey) Woods, Ricky Claypole, Tony Claypole, Kristofer Claypole and Rachel (Bradley) Russell; and nine great-grandchildren, Laken Werle, Nolan Werle, Ryan Werle, Preston Woods, Chanler Woods, Evan Woods, Paeton Woods, Annalyse McDermott, Jasmine Russell and Camron Claypole.

In addition to his parents and wife, Shirley was preceded in death by one son, Rick Claypole; three brothers, Jesse Claypole and twins in infancy; and one sister, Rosemary Barnard.

Shirley was a 1951 graduate of Orrick High School.  He was a machinist for PMI in Fairfax, KS for 38 ½ years. He was also a mechanic and carpenter. He was of the Christian faith. Shirley loved hunting, football, fishing, mushroom hunting and enjoyed gardening. He was an avid outdoors man. He lived most of his life in the Orrick.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Shirkey's Hospice.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 6, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial will be in the Cravens Cemetery south of Richmond.
