SHIRLEY FRANCIS STRICKLER
Shirley Francis Strickler, 70, life long resident of Ray County lost her battle with cancer at 3:00 a.m. on January 31, 2010 at Ray County Memorial Hospital under the special care of Crossroads Hospice.
Shirley was born on July 27, 1939 in Hardin, Missouri the daughter of Joseph R. Higgs and Irene (Woodson) Higgs who preceded her in death.
Shirley was a devoted wife, friend, and companion to Delbert D. Strickler of Camden, MO; he survives of the home in Richmond, MO. Shirley and Delbert's 55 year marriage began on July 7, 1954.
Shirley's greatest pride and joys come from her family. Shirley had two children and their spouse, a daughter Pamela Kay and Mike Gooch of Richmond, and a son Jeffrey Kent and Pam Strickler of Ozark, MO. Shirley was a devoted mother and loving grandmother to four grandchildren, Christopher Michael Gooch, Jacquelyn Michelle Gooch, Shannon Bailey Strickler and Chance Donovan Strickler. Shirley was blessed with two great-grandchildren, Amelia Grace Gooch and Brandon Michael Gooch.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Crossroads Hospice or to the First Baptist Church of Richmond.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at 10:30 a.m., at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 2, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. A celebration of Shirley's life will be held at the Richmond Shrine Club immediately following the comitial service at Craven Cemetery. Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond is in charge of the arrangements.
