Tammy Ruth Cox, 59, of Hardin, passed away Thursday, June 17, 2021, at NorthCare Hospice House in Kansas City, surrounded by her loving family.
Tammy was born on June 9, 1962, in Chillicothe, the daughter of Charles and Shirley (Payne) LeClare. She was united in marriage to Chris Cox of Chillicothe on October 24, 1981; he survives of the home.
Additional survivors include: son, David (Aleigha) Cox of Hardin; daughter, Brooke (Tim) Shields of Liberty; grandson, Dawson Cox; two step-grandchildren, Hali Shields and Dylan Shields; step-great-grandson, Waylon Rollins; two brothers, Bill LeClare of Chillicothe and Norman LeClare of Lake Ozark; sister, Marsha (Jeff) Olendorff of Glasgow; and other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, daughter, Courtney Michelle Cox, and sister, Carol Lee LeClare.
Tammy was reared and educated in Chillicothe. She was a housewife and homemaker and worked outside of the home as a secretary for the Heartland Baptist Association, Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington and the Hardin First Baptist Church. Tammy loved horses and spending time at the family farm when she was younger. She loved animals and was a good card player. Tammy enjoyed the water and loved to swim, even teaching her husband how and getting him brave enough to go off the high board. She also enjoyed reading and classic TV shows. Most of all, she loved to be with her family and celebrate all the holidays with them.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Hardin First Baptist Church. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at the Hardin First Baptist Church. Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, June 21, 2021, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial will be in the Hardin Cemetery.
