Thomas "Tom" Scott Flexter, 92, of Richmond, died Sunday, November 11, 2018, at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.

Tom was born on March 3, 1926, in Wayne County, IL, to George Allen and Barbara Ellen (Hamilton) Flexter.  He was united in marriage to Jean C. Crabtree of Richmond on August 14, 1949.  She preceded him in death on January 27, 2015.

Survivors include: three sons and three daughters-in-law: Greg (Jane) Flexter of Cincinnati, OH, Thomas S. Jr. (Frankie) Flexter of Grain Valley, and Eddie A. (Maria) Flexter of Desoto, KS; one daughter: Debbie S. Flexter of Richmond; one sister: Beulah Mae Logan of Chillicothe; seven grandchildren: Tracey (Brett) Davis, Melissa Miller (Charlie Norris), Michael (Brooke) Flexter, Becky (Trice) Sears, James Flexter, Kate Flexter, and Andrew Flexter; and 6 great-grandchildren, Logan Schreier, Isabelle Sears, Hannah Norris, Gabe Flexter, Evan Flexter, Zach Flexter, and Della Davis.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, six brothers and two sisters

Tom was a grain elevator manager in both Illinois and Missouri; he also worked for Allis-Chalmers, where he retired from.  Tom also farmed, gardened, and raised registered pulled Hereford cattle.  Tom was an active member of the Assembly of God Church in Richmond.  He was a deacon, school bus driver for the church, and a member of the God Squad.  Tom proudly served his country as a United States Marine and served two tours of duty, one during World War II and then during the  Korean War.
