Thomas Marlon "Tom" Harmon, 76, of Richmond, died unexpectedly Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at his residence.
Tom was born on November 10, 1942, in North Kansas City, the son of Willis R. and Wilma Clastine (Malott) Harmon. He was united in marriage to his wife, Wynema, of Richmond, on December 28, 2011; she survives of the home.
Additional survivors include: three sons: Kevin Harmon and Steve Harmon, both of Richmond, and Travis (Tammy) Rogers of Liberty; three grandchildren: Thomas (Kira Douglas) Harmon, Nick Harmon, and Brayden Rogers; three great-grandchildren: Delilah, Ellie, and Kholi; one brother, Melvin (Shirley) Harmon of Fleming; and one sister-in-law, Veronica Rimmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marsha McKay.
Tom graduated from Liberty High School. After high school, he served in the United States Army. After serving his country, Tom worked for thirty years for Ford Motor Company and retired as a welding inspector. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Local Union #249. Tom also served as Sheriff for Ray County; one full term in the 1980s. Tom was a Mason, Shriner, and a member of the Ray County Veteran's. Tom loved fishing and hunting. He and his wife loved to travel together on his Harley Davidson Motorcycle. Tom was a loving and kind man and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to your local animal shelter, in memory of Tom. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, July 1, 2019, at the Ray County Veteran's building in Richmond. Inurnment will be at a later date, by the family. Please share your memories of Tom by visiting www.thurmanfuneralhome.com .
