Obituary

Timothy “Tim” Ryan Dye, 48, of Holt, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at Liberty Hospital.

Tim was born on May 1, 1978, in Kansas City, the son of Dennis Edwin Dye and Robyn Jenee’ (Dye) Ballinger. He was united in marriage to Kendearly Elaine Foley of Holt on November 11, 2024; she survives of the home.

Additional survivors include: his father, Dennis (Stacey) Dye of Thomasville, GA; his mother, Robyn (Robert) Ballinger of Parkville; maternal grandmother, Peggy Fairlie of Parkville; three sons: Christopher (Guadalupe) Foley of Oahu, HI, Mikey Dye of Holt, and Zachary Dye (Kaitlyn Smith) of Kansas City; two daughters, D.J. Fischer of Avondale and Allison Dye (Jayden Neal) of Independence; sister, Amber Williams of Kansas City; niece, Emily Williams of Kansas City; and his best friend, cousin, and fishing buddy, Justin York; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Gordon and Catherine Dye, his maternal grandfather, Robert Fairlie, and aunt, Karen Dye.

Tim was raised and educated in the Smithville area. During his sophomore year, he attended Leon High School in Tallahassee, Florida, before returning to the Smithville area.

Tim was a familiar face at Tnemec Company in Kansas City, where he proudly worked for the past 19 years. To Tim, Tnemec was much more than just a place of employment; it was like a second family. With several of his own family members working alongside him, it truly was a family affair. Tim genuinely loved his job, the people he worked with, and the friendships he made along the way. He often lived by the saying, “If you enjoy your job, you never really spend a day at work,” and for Tim, those words couldn't have been more true.

As much as Tim loved his work, nothing meant more to him than his wife, his kids, and his family. He was happiest spending time with those he loved, whether it was attending his kids' events, enjoying family get-togethers, playing cards, or simply being together. Tim also enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing, golfing, and sipping on a good whiskey. He appreciated the simple pleasures in life, but it was the people he shared them with who made those moments special.

Tim also had a special place in his heart for his beloved fur babies, who were every bit a part of the family. Being a Star Wars fan, he gave most of them names to match: Luke, Leia, Vader, and George. Then there was Annabelle, the oddball of the bunch who somehow missed out on the Star Wars theme. Each of them held a special place in Tim's heart and brought him plenty of love and companionship.

Above all, Tim was a man who loved deeply. He loved his wife, adored his kids, treasured his family and fur babies, and took great pride in his work. He found happiness in the things and people he loved, and those who knew him will remember just how much they meant to him.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Tim Dye Memorial Fund. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2026, from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. A celebration of life will be held and announced at a later date by the family.
