Victor Eugene "Gene" Thate, 83, of Norborne, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 24, 2022, at his home.

Gene was born on February 6, 1939, on his family's farm in Carroll County, the son of Victor Henry and Margaret (Sullivan) Thate.

Survivors include: nephew, Randall (Stacey) Thate of Norborne; and sister-in-law, Barbara Thate of Independence.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Richard W. Thate, James "Jim" Oliver Thate, and Tyrone Douglas Thate.

Gene was reared and educated in Norborne and graduated from the Norborne High School.  After high school, he attended college at Warrensburg, where he received his bachelor's degree.  He then proudly served his country in the United States Navy.  After his time in the military, he worked in banking in Texas and finished his banking career in Oklahoma City, OK.  Gene enjoyed golfing, hunting, and was a big Texas Longhorn fan.
