VIOLA MAXINE HEIL

Viola Maxine Heil, 92, of Richmond, MO died Sunday, March 8, 2015 at the North Care Hospice House in North Kansas City, MO.

Vi was born on December 2, 1922 in Rockingham, MO to James R. and Ida M (Wuttke) Halterman, Sr. She married Donald W. Heil of Norborne, MO on August 12, 1945. He preceded her in death on August 26, 1995.

Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Donna and Charles Foor of Richmond, Karen and David Durham of Hardin, MO, and Jan Blankenship of Kansas City, MO; three brothers and three sisters-in-law, Donald E. and Betty Jo Halterman of Mesa, AZ, Stanley M. and Barb Halterman of Orlando, FL and Wendall R. and Darla Halterman of Sebring, FL; 7 grandchildren and their spouses, Timothy and Linda McBee, Brian and Kelly McBee, Brad and Amanda McBee, Kyle and Courtney Durham, Kristen Durham, Rachel Blankenship and Kathryn Blankenship; 9 great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Nancy Halterman of Higginsville, MO and Lucille Lane of Norborne, MO; two step-grandchildren, Brad and Diana Foor and Clint and Joni Foor; and 6 step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Vi was preceded in death by one brother, James R. Halterman, Jr., and one son-in-law, Brian D. Blankenship.

Vi was a homemaker. She held various offices in 4-H, Ladies Aid, Chase Homemakers, Legion Auxiliary, PTA, and Walther League. She also enjoyed being involved with friends; she was part of the church choir, bridge club, square dancing (and made their outfits), bowling, and attending school trips with other parents. Vi and Don loved to travel. She was a faithful member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Norborne. She had lived in the Norborne area most of her life.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made either to the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Wolfner Library for the Blind or the North Care Hospice.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Norborne. There will be no family visitation, although Vi will lie in state on Friday, March 13, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Norborne. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery north of Norborne. On line condolences may be left on our website at www.thurmanfuneralhome.com
