VIRGINIA JELINEK

Virginia Elizabeth Jelinek, 80, of Excelsior Springs, MO, and formally of Polo, MO, died on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Kindred Hospital in Kansas City, MO.
Virginia was born on December 11, 1931, on the family farm in Ray County, MO to William Earl and Blanche Elizabeth (Thompson) Killion. She married James Jelinek, Jr. of Richmond on July 18, 1948; he preceded her in death on November 20, 1975.
Survivors include three sons: James (Donna) Jelinek, Lathrop, MO, Bruce (Kay) Jelinek, Polo, and Tim (Beverly) Jelinek, Flanagan, IL; two daughters: Linda (David) Zink, Polo and Lorrie (Scott) McCowan, Kearney, MO; one brother Howard (Ann) Killion, Missouri City, MO; two sisters: Mary (Herb) Benton, Richmond and Sue (Jerry) Levi, Kansas City, MO; eight grandchildren, Jessica (James) Aldrich, Christopher (Sarah) Zink, Michelle (Brian) Bartlett, Christopher Hogan, Kellie (Matt) King, Eric Jelinek, Joshua McCowan and Nicholas McCowan; and six great-grandchildren, Hunter Zink, Taylor Zink, Logan Byrd, Lily Aldrich, Breanna Bartlett and Donovan Bartlett.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Virginia had worked various jobs over the years. She was employed with Barnett & Ramel Optical Company in Kansas City and Avsco Company in Excelsior Springs, but was well known for working at the Red Rooster in Polo. She was an active member in the North New Garden Primitive Baptist Church in Excelsior Springs. She was past member of the Rebekah Lodge.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either The American Heart Association or The American Cancer Society.


Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the North New Garden Primitive Baptist Church, Excelsior Springs, MO. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 28, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Richmond Memory Gardens Cemetery, Richmond.
