VIRGINIA MAE MISEL

Virignia Mae Misel, 91, of Millville, MO, died Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at her home.
Mrs. Misel was born June 26, 1919 in Ray County, MO to James and Gladys (Johnson) Gorham. She was first married to Nelson "Red" Johnson of Knoxville, MO; he preceded her in death. She later married Ralph F. Misel of Millville on April 29, 1960; he preceded her in death on August 11, 2002.
Survivors include one step-son, Woodford Johnson of Mentone, IN; one sister, June Smitha of Excelsior Springs, MO; four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including Sandy Myerchin who was her caregiver for the last four years.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by six brothers, J.T., Kenneth E., Melvin L., Paul and Jack Gorham, and one who died in infancy; and three sisters, Marion Silkwood, Maxine Diem and Frances Gorham, who died in infancy.
Mrs. Misel was a lifelong Ray County resident. She had worked at Hallmark Cards, and was the owner and operator of the Wee Village Market in Millville. She was of the Christian faith.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Ray County Home Health and Hospice.

Graveside services will be Saturday, July 24, at 10:00 a.m. at the New Hope Cemetery, Hardin, MO. Visitation will be Friday, July 23, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, MO. Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, MO is in charge of the arrangements.
