VIRGINIA ROSE ROGERS
Virginia Rose Rogers, 92, of Richmond, MO and formerly of the Independence/Sugar Creek area died on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at the Shirkey Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.
Virginia was born on November 7, 1918 in Savannah, MO, to William Lee and Lillian Mae (Mayes) Butler. She married William "Buryll" Rogers of Independence, MO on April 20, 1937; he preceded her in death on May 8, 1986.
Survivors include on son, William A. Rogers of Sugar Creek; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Judith L. Jordan (Dr. Robert) of Richmond and Sara Jo Evans (Stephen) of Rogers, AR; 11 grandchildren, William "Craig" Rogers (Johanna), Phillip Rogers (Mary), Kristin Lane, Timothy Rogers ( Penni), Kathryn Poe (Stewart Howden), Lisa Cole (Donald), Jeffrey Jordan (Jennifer), Malinda Yonke (Kevin), Julie Vargas (Adrian), Brent Evans (Shelly) and Brian Evans (Ragon); 35 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Virginia was a homemaker. She had lived most of her life in the Independence area. She was an active member of the Maywood Baptist Church of Independence.
The family suggests memorial contributions in lieu of flowers be made to the Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond or the Maywood Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at the Maywood Baptist Church in Independence. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be held at the Mt. Washington Forever Cemetery in Independence. Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond is in charge of the arrangements.
