WALTER K. LAYMAN, JR.
Walter K. Layman, Jr., 81, of Hardin, MO passed away on Friday, November 8, 2013 at the Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.
Junior was born on September 29, 1932 in Ray County, MO to Walter K. Layman, Sr. and Hazel Esteleen (Morse) Layman. He married Ruby Maxine Glenn of Edmond, OK on August 22, 1953. She preceded him in death on November 15, 2012.
Survivors include; 2 sons, Rex Layman, his fiancé, Alice Dotson and her children, Jess, Tyler and Katy Dotson of Norborne, MO, Rodney Layman and his wife, Michelle of Richmond, MO, 1 daughter, Brenda Casteel and husband, Ray of Norborne, MO. Five grandchildren and their spouses, Christy and Russell Miller, Rachelle Amery, Casey and Emily Layman, Ashley and Chris Green and Cassidy Layman. 6 great-grandchildren also survive; Tyler Miller, Chase Layman, Ashton Layman, Ethan Woeffner, Wyatt Woeffner and Amber Sanders.
In addition to his parents and wife, Junior was preceded in death by 1 sister, Shirley Ann Layman.
Junior farmed for over forty years, before retiring in 1997. He also worked at the Ford Claycomo Plant and Lake City Arsenal. He was a member of the U.A.W. Union local #249. He was a United States Army Veteran. He had lived in the Hardin, MO area most of his life. He was of the Christian faith.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the New Hope Cemetery Association.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery, North of Hardin, MO. Military Honors will be provided by the Ray County Veterans.
