WAYNE CARTER

Edward Wayne Carter, 93, of Warrensburg, MO and formerly of Richmond, MO died Monday, March 25, 2013 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg.
Wayne was born on August 27, 1919 in Richmond, MO the son of Edward and Ottie (Dudgeon) Carter. He married Ethel Loraine Brown of Richmond on October 26, 1944; she preceded him in death on March 13, 2002.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Karl and Janet Carter of Richmond and Robert and Debbie Carter of Richmond; one grandson, Anthony Wayne Carter and his wife Ashley Marie of Blue Springs, MO; one step-granddaughter, Stacey Janette Lee and her husband, Bobby of Richmond; three great-grandchildren, Ethan Williams, Sebastian Lee and Sylas Lee; and two nieces, Pattie Austin and her husband Bill of Raytown, MO and Lorie Johnson and her husband, Wayne of Blue Springs.
In addition to his parents and wife, Wayne was preceded in death by one sister, Lucy Elizabeth Carter; and one step-grandson, Michael Bagley.
Wayne was a lifelong farmer in Ray County and retired in 1984. Wayne and Loraine moved to Yuma, AZ to Shady Acres retirement community where he utilized his farming skills to develop several beautiful rose gardens. Three years after his wife's passing he returned to Missouri moving to the Veterans Home in Warrensburg to be closer to his family. Wayne was a member of the Richmond First Baptist Church. He served his country in the Army Air Corps during WWII in the Pacific Theater building airfields and as a medic.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg.
