Lewell "Wayne" Dean, 74, of Richmond, Missouri died Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Ray County Memorial Hospital in Richmond, MO.


Wayne was born on October 11, 1943 in Mt. Judea, AR. He married Bonnie (Mitchem) Dean of Grain Valley on December 8, 1993.

Survivors include: his wife, Bonnie and four daughters: Karen (Barry) Adams of Topeka, KS, Kim (Zack) Owens of Independence, MO, Shelley (Jack) Dotson of Excelsior Springs, MO and Becky (Steve) Boyd of Plattsburg, MO; 8 grandchildren: Zackery (Amber) Adams, Alexander (Kendra) Adams, Hailey (Chase) Cannon, Kyle Burns, Riley Dotson, Noah Dotson, Austin Boyd and Addison Boyd.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents.

Wayne has been a union pipe fitter since he graduated high school. He received his 55-Year Service Pin Award for his service to the Pipe Fitters Local 533, which he was a member of and where he retired in 2000. He was an avid dog breeder and hunter. He had experience with all kinds of hounds and raised Beagles, Blue Tick and Walker coonhounds. Their loud voices he appreciated and it was music to his ears, he understood their language. He was an active member of the Coonhound Club of Holden and Holden Masonic Lodge #262. He loved his girls and family, especially his great-grandbabies.

The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Pipe Fitters Local #533 for their apprenticeship program.

Funeral services will be held at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. A Masonic Service will be held prior to the funeral at 6:30 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home. Inurnment will be at a later date.
