Wayne Paul Lavern Sanford, 66, of Richmond, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at his residence.

Wayne was born on November 12, 1951 in Versailles, the son of William Joseph Russel and Lola May (Coonis) Sanford.  He was united in marriage to Joyce Ann Brizendine of Pittsburgh, KS, on June 22 of 1990; she preceded him in death in 2015.

Survivors include two sons: Brian Sanford and his wife Jamie of Independence, Wayne Sanford Jr. of Springfield; one step-son John Thornburg and his wife Tracy of Kansas City, MO; one daughter Christine Cresyman and her husband Chance of Kansas City, KS; one brother James Sanford and his wife Theresa of Kansas City, MO; three sisters: Alma Sanford of Independence, June Sanford of Kansas City, MO, and Fonda Sanford (Kawski) of New York; ten grandchildren, one great grandchild and two on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Sherry Sanford, and one brother Boyd Sanford.

Wayne was a self-employed, over-the-road truck driver.  He also drove a truck for the Atlas Moving Company in Kansas City, MO, where he retired from.  Wayne lived most of his life in the Kansas City area.  He enjoyed putting together puzzles, fishing, eating, and liked old cars.
