WAYNE "WIMPY" SMITH

Wayne "Wimpy" Smith, 91, of Richmond, MO died at 5:42 a.m. on Friday, June 03, 2011 at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.
Wayne was born on September 29, 1919 in Ray County, MO to Henry Paris and Lelia Madge (Seward) Smith. He married Norma K. Cox of Richmond on August 16, 1940; she preceded him in death on November 18, 2007.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Lori Smith of Richmond; three daughters and one son-in-law, Nancy Durr of Richmond, Barbara and Kenneth Jordan of Lathrop, MO and Sheri K. Palmerin of Lexington, MO; 6 grandchildren, Justin Smith, Nathan Smith, Jason Durr, Kenneth Jordan, Jr., Gennifer Crow and Megan Palmerin; nine great-grandchildren, Taylor Palmerin, Ashtin Jordan, Kodi Jordan, Kiersten Jordan, Steven Garrison, Tyler Crow, Madison McGinnis, Sky McGaugh and Brendon Stevens; and one great-great-granddaughter, Autumn Elifrits.
In addition to his parents and wife, Wayne was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Smith and Herman Smith; and one sister, Glada Longdon.
Wayne was a Brick Layer in the Union for 50 years before retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Richmond First Baptist Church. He was a member of the Brick Layer's Local Union # 15. He was a volunteer for the Richmond Fire Department for 60 + years. He was a 50 + year member of the Richmond Masonic Lodge #57 A.F. and A.M. and the United States Army Veteran of WWII.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Richmond First Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 6, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Richmond First Baptist Church. Visitation will be Sunday, June 5, 2011 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond with Masonic services at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Richmond Memory Gardens Cemetery.
