WILBURN E. MEIERER

Wilburn E. Meierer, 84, of Richmond, MO died Monday, May 30, 2016 at Ray County Memorial Hospital in Richmond.

Wilburn was born on October 31, 1931 in Lexington, MO to Albert C. and Ella (Riffle) Meierer. He married Delores M. Ghisalberti of Lexington, MO on November 21, 1954. She survives of the home.

Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Mark and Donna Meierer of Springfield, MO, Mike Meierer of Millville, MO and Steve and Cheryl Meierer of Richmond; one daughter, Teresa Minnick of Richmond; two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Alberta and Tony Benedick of Marshall, MO and Lois and Bill Crist of Chambersburg, PA; 12 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Wilburn was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill Meierer and Albert Meierer; two sisters, Betty Meierer and Amanda Raye Vincent; one grandchild; and a daughter-in-law, Rhonda Meierer.

Wilburn was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War. He worked as a utility worker at General Motors for 32 years before retiring in 1991. He also worked as a custodian at the Richmond High School. He was a member of the Hermitage Masonic Lodge #228 A.F. & A.M. and the Hermitage Knights of Columbus. Wilburn was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lexington.  He was a member of the U.A.W. He had lived in Pittsburg, MO, but in Richmond most of his life.  Wilburn was a loving father and grandfather.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the St. Jude's Hospital for Children, or to the Ray County Humane Society.

A Funeral mass will be Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lexington, MO. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 1, 2016 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. where the rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial will be in the Richmond Memory Gardens Cemetery where military honors will be provided by the Ray County Veterans. Online condolences maybe left on our website at www.thurmanfuneralhome.com
