WILLIAM D. JOHNSON
William D. Johnson, 84, of Norborne, Mo died Monday, September 8, 2014 at the Missouri State Veterans Home in Cameron, Mo.
William was born on August 24, 1930 in Saline County, Mo to W.C. and Mattie (Tilloston) Johnson. He first married Melva Louise Michaels of Norborne on February 20, 1955; she preceded him in death on June 10, 2006. He later married Virginia Mohn of Norborne on October 27, 2007; she survives of the home.
Additional survivors include one son, Lowell Douglas Johnson and his wife, Janet of Eugene, Or; daughter-in-law, Terri Johnson of Gower, Mo; brothers, J.W. Johnson and his wife, Dorothy of Carrollton, Mo, B.R. Johnson and his wife, Judy of Ottawa, KS, Robert Johnson of Clinton, Mo and Albert Johnson and his wife, Karen of Hardin, Mo; grandsons, Steven Douglas Johnson and wife, Jennifer and Brian William Johnson; granddaughters, Kristen Pind and husband, Max and Kelly L. Kelley and her husband, Jackson; great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Ayden Johnson and Cooper and Felicity Pind; step-sons, Gerald Mohn and his wife, Linda of Macon, Mo, Ray Mohn and wife, Loretta of Carrollton and Davey Mohn and his wife, Paula of Kansas City, Ks; 8 step-grandchildren and 9 step-great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family also morn his passing.
In addition to his parents and first wife, William was preceded in death by one son, Kevin Johnson; a brother who died in infancy and a great-grandson, Parker Johnson who died in infancy.
William served in the United States Army during the Korean War. William worked at Cunningham Beckemeier Supply for 43 years before retiring in 2004. He was known in the community for his service work and appliance repair. He enjoyed gardening and when he placed the shovel by the garage the people of the community knew when the turnips were ready to dig and they could help themselves.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the family?s choice.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, September 12, 2014 at 1:30 a.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Norborne. Inurnment will follow at the Fairhaven Cemetery in Norborne where military honors will be provided by the Pence-Lovell-England V.F.W. Post #1773 from Carrollton.
