Obituary

William E. Miller, 73, 11 months, and 4 days, peacefully went to be with his Savior on Wednesday, September 16 th , 2020, following a brief illness.

He was born on October 12, 1946, in Dover, Delaware, a son of the late Enos & Sadie (Mast) Miller.  On October 14, 1965, he was united in marriage to Martha D. Byler, who survives.

He was ordained to the ministry in November of 1976.  He loved the church and was a faithful member of the Bethel Mennonite Church.

Dad had a compassionate heart for all people, and his love and concern for souls touched many. He had his own personal ministry in passing out Gospel tracts and CDs.

Sharing in conversation with people he met daily was far more important than the work he was doing.  The three years he and mom spent in Honduras left lasting impressions on the people he worked with.

God blessed them with four sons and four daughters: Roger (Debra) Miller of Kirksville, MO, Evelyn (Lavern) Schlabach of Richmond, MO, Linda (Titus) Hostetler of Brookfield, MO, Ken (Sue) Miller of Auburn, NE, Lavern (Judy) of Kirksville, MO, Joe (Darlene) Miller of Dickson, TN, Frieda (Brian) Knepp of Seymour, MO, and Wanita (Javan) Yoder of Rutherford, TN; 38 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.  He is also survived by brothers, Joe, Dan, Allan, David, Ray, and Mervin, and sister, Susanna.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister who died in infancy, 2 sisters-in-law, and brother-in-law.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Sunday, September 20, 2020, at the Bethel Mennonite Church, near Millville.  Visitation will be held Saturday, September 19, 2020, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.  Burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery, near Millville.  Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond is in charge of arrangements.  Please remember to share your memories of William with the family by visiting www.thurmanfuneralhome.com .
