WILLIAM O. (BILL) McCUMBER
William O. (Bill) McCumber, 72, of Bogard, MO, died Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at his home.
Bill was born on April 4, 1942 in Wakenda, MO to Harold and Lula (Womack) McCumber. He married Violet I. Fox of Annapolis, MO on June 7, 1992. She survives of the home.
Additional survivors include; one son and daughter-in-law, Lonnie "Toby" and Jodie McCumber of Hale, MO. five daughters, Luanna Holmer and her husband, Clint of Chillicothe, MO, Lori Brown of Ludlow, MO, Shannon and Beth , both of Jackson, MI, Brandy and John of Marshall, MO, one brother, Terry McCumber of Carrollton, MO, 16 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren also survive.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by one son, Billy McCumber, two sisters, Carol Ritzinger, Anabelle Stroud and two grandchildren, Nicholas and Devin.
Bill was a self-employed gunsmith for over 30 years. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Viet Nam War. He was a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Carrollton. He moved to the Bogard area in 1971.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either Preferred Hospice in Lexington or to the American Cancer Society.
As to Bill's request, there will be no funeral service or visitation, although military honors will be provided at the Pence-Lovell-England American Legion Post #1773 in Carrollton, MO on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. On-line condolences may be left on our website at www.thurmanfuneralhome.com.
