Obituary

Wilma “Mae” Williams, 93, entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Saturday, October 31, 2026.

Mae was born on November 26, 1932, in Henrietta, MO. She was the fifth of six children born to Elmer and Leona Mae (Clevenger) Hessenflow. She was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Roy Glen Williams, on January 7, 1954. They were married for 62 years until his passing on March 7, 2016.

She is survived by her only daughter, Renee Sullard and her husband David; two grandsons and three great-grandchildren: Jacob Sullard and Avery Mae Sullard, Jordan and Kim Sullard, Kallee Mae Sullard, and Jeremy Roy Sullard; and two special lifelong friends, Doris Claypole and Ann Page.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Alva (Mary) Hessenflow and Roy (Evelyn) Hessenflow, three sisters, Norma Lee (Bill) Cunningham, Florence (Vern) Vance, and Esther (Lee Roy) Jackson, as well as two special friends, Marge Harrison and “Sug” Swafford.

Mae was born, graduated high school, married, and lived in Henrietta for 66 years. She and her husband moved to Lexington in 1998, where she resided until May of 2026 when she moved to Richmond to stay with her daughter and son-in-law.

Mae was a member of the Henrietta Baptist Church. She worked for Taber Products in Henrietta as well as Lake City Ammunition Plant until her retirement in 1986. She was known by her Lake City coworkers and those south of the Missouri River as Wilma, while those north of the river called her Mae.

Her passion in life was doing for others. She was famous for her fried tenderloins, homemade potato salad, and baked beans. Mae and Roy Glen loved all of God’s creatures. They were avid bird feeders, always taking in stray animals, and feeding the wild critters that passed through the yard. She was also a frequent visitor at the Margaret Gray Senior Center in Lexington; she loved the place and the people.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society of Ray County or the Margaret Gray Senior Center in Lexington. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation with funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, with visitation beginning at 1:00 P.M., with services to follow at 2:00 P.M. Burial will be in Richmond Memory Gardens. Please remember to share your memories of Mae with the family by visiting www.thurmanfuneralhome.com.
